1) How did Chiffon & Lace come about?
Chiffon & Lace come about when a bride-to-be who is passionate in tailoring met with a fashion lover and a website designer, all during the process of creating her own dream gown. Through personal experiences we know how corporate brides struggle to find time to prepare for their weddings. We also learn that the modern day brides have refined expectation and taste. C&L was started to be based online, whereby communication can be done speedily and special attention is paid to fulfill the unique requirement from our brides.

2) How would you describe your gowns?
Simply gorgeous! Every gown from C&L is uniquely customized for each bride to her body and style. We take special pride in paying attention to every detail of the gown.

3) What makes Chiffon & Lace unique from others?
We believe in giving highly personalize service to each of our brides. Starting from our initial online pre-consultation leading up to our first in person meet-up, we endeavor to understand our brides taste and styles so that our designs are especially customized for them.

4) What is the price range of your collection?
The gown price depends on the material used and the design. Typically a Chiffon & Lace gown starts from MYR1600 to MYR3000.

5) Tell us about the most unique gown that Chiffon & Lace has ever made
One of our early brides is very modernistic and bold. For her gown we veered away from the traditional conservative designs and went for the high fashion cat-walk styled gown. The gown which had a short knee length front and a long train for the back is complemented by bold pearl motifs and hand-crafted chiffon flowers. One look and you know you have a bride with a dress of character.

6) Any advice for the bride on choosing their wedding gown?
A wedding gown should flatter your good figure and fit your body, personality and wedding ceremony perfectly. Start 9-12 months before your big day to give yourself ample time to look for the designer that you like. From there, the experts shall guide you to find The Perfect Fit.

7) What are Chiffon & Lace’s plans for the future?
Go international!

A bride wearing a gown by That Special Occasion

What inspired you to start That Special Occasion?
It was the beginning of the new millennium in 2000 and my biz partner Anna and I decided to quit our jobs and venture into the wedding business. We had met at part-time design school and weddings seemed to interest us both.

Describe yourself in 3 words!
Man of his words … oops, that’s 4!

What should a bride consider when choosing a bridal gown?
Comfort, as she will be in the dress for long periods of time. The gown should also complement her personality and enhance her body instead of being overpowering. She must also allocate a reasonable amount of budget for a specially designed gown.

How long does it take to make a dress with That Special Occasion?
2 to 3 months would be a good lead time for made-to-measure wedding gowns.

That Special Occasion is popular amongst brides in Malaysia. Why do they choose you?
We offer a personalised service as we specialise in made-to-measure. In that sense, a bride does get an opportunity to share some input into the design of her wedding gown. I’d also like to think that we are friendly and easy going, but only to brides who reciprocate! Our pricing levels are also competitive and relatively affordable.

Any advice for the bride on choosing their wedding gown designer?
Like choosing any vendor, there must be chemistry and mutual trust and respect.
