The Framer’s Daughter

February 19, 2008

Have you ever wondered how a photo is being framed? Well I do, because whenever I pass our clients’ photos to Alishia, it comes back perfectly framed. After more than a year, I decided to ask Alishia to guide me through a typical framing process. Thankfully, Alishia was willing enough to be my “tour guide” for her father’s framing workshop.

As we approached the workshop, we were greeted by the ‘no entry’ sign courtesy of Alishia’s sister; Jesslyn.

But we had the keys of course.

Alishia demonstrated to me how a frame is cut using a special cutting machine.

Next, she showed and explained to me how the frames are joined together.

Another cutting machine for the backboard. This machine is huge!!

More cutting, this time its the glass using a special blade.

The final touch…

Viola! A complete frame.. just not of my photo.

Alishia’s father has been in the framing business for over a decade and Alishia sure knows her stuff. I was probably lost half way but nevertheless, it was an interesting tour. So if you’ve framed with us, know that your frames are not bought from some stationary store, but it was carefully framed at our own workshop. I have certainly learned how to appreciate framing a lot more!!
